Frequently asked questions
What is a safe SWP withdrawal rate?+
A withdrawal at or below what the corpus earns keeps the balance intact. On a debt or hybrid portfolio returning 7-8%, that is roughly ₹5,800-₹6,600 a month per ₹10 lakh invested.
Is SWP income taxed?+
Each withdrawal is part principal and part gain. Only the gain portion is taxed as capital gains, so an SWP is usually more tax-efficient than taking a dividend or a lumpsum.
