Frequently asked questions

Which tax regime should I choose?+

The new regime is usually cheaper up to about ₹17-20 lakh of income unless you use the full ₹1.5 lakh 80C, NPS, health insurance and HRA exemptions. Fill both columns here and compare the final number.

What is the section 87A rebate?+

Under the new regime, taxable income up to ₹12 lakh attracts a rebate of up to ₹60,000, which can make the tax nil. The old regime gives a rebate of up to ₹12,500 on income up to ₹5 lakh.

Does this calculator include TDS?+

No. It computes the tax liability for the year. Subtract the TDS already deducted in your Form 26AS to see the refund due or the balance payable.
