Frequently asked questions
How often is FD interest compounded in India?+
Most banks compound quarterly, which is what this calculator assumes. You can also switch it to monthly, half-yearly or yearly compounding to match your bank's terms.
When is TDS deducted on an FD?+
Banks deduct 10% TDS once your interest from that bank crosses ₹40,000 in a financial year (₹50,000 for senior citizens), or 20% if your PAN is not linked. Form 15G/15H stops the deduction when your income is below the taxable limit.
